Seventh award for Rinconada: Glacier Gold

On 24th July 2005, the 8th edition of the Cervino International Film Festival closed with the screening of the awarded films.

dev.tv’s Rinconada: Glacier Gold was awarded “for having brought to light the tragic situation of a forgotten community, joining together visual research, sober approach, and effective fiction”.

This is the 7th award won by our film in international festivals across Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, and Canada.

Can ICTs help lift people out of poverty?

The second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) takes place this November in Tunisia.

The third meeting of the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom-3 of the Tunis phase) will be held in Geneva from 19-30 September under the auspices of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), and is certain to attract many high-level participants from the world of ICTs (information and communication technologies).

With support from SDC, GKP, and UNDP-APDIP, dev.tv intends to take advantage of this gathering to stage a one-hour televised debate on whether ICTs can effectively help lift people out of poverty.

The debate will be broadcast on BBC World to 275 million homes worldwide, and will also be streamed over the internet during the week of the WSIS.
